The Healthy Hair Journal: Is Apple Cider Vinegar Good for Your Hair? Here’s Why We Put It in Our Shampoo

Shateria Beauty Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Clarifying Shampoo with fresh apples and aloe vera, representing plant-based scalp and hair care for curls, locs, relaxed, and color-treated hair.

Is Apple Cider Vinegar Good for Your Hair?

We get asked this question all the time, so we thought we’d answer it here.

The short answer is yes! Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) can be a great ingredient for your scalp and hair when it’s used correctly.

Most people know ACV for its health benefits, but it’s also become a popular ingredient in hair care because of its ability to help remove buildup and support a healthy scalp.

At Shateria Beauty, we believe healthy hair starts with healthy scalp care. Whether you have curls, coils, locs, relaxed hair, or color-treated hair, keeping your scalp clean is one of the best things you can do for your hair.

Should You Pour Apple Cider Vinegar Directly on Your Hair?

We don’t recommend it.

While you may have seen DIY Apple Cider Vinegar rinses online, pure Apple Cider Vinegar is too acidic to apply directly to your scalp or hair. It should always be properly diluted before use. Using too much or using it too often may leave your hair feeling dry or irritate your scalp.

That’s one of the reasons we created our Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Clarifying Shampoo.

Instead of asking you to figure out the right ratio at home, we did the work for you by creating a balanced formula that combines the cleansing benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar with soothing Aloe Vera and other carefully selected ingredients.

What Are the Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

When used in a properly formulated hair care product, Apple Cider Vinegar can help:

  • Remove product buildup.
  • Wash away excess oil and impurities.
  • Support your scalp’s natural pH.
  • Leave hair feeling clean without feeling stripped.
  • Create a healthier foundation for your regular hair care routine.

A clean scalp also allows your conditioners, leave-ins, and styling products to work more effectively.

Is It Good for Curls and Locs?

Absolutely.

If you have curls or coils, buildup can weigh your hair down and make it harder for moisturizing products to do their job. Clarifying regularly helps your curls feel lighter and look more defined.

If you have locs, buildup can collect over time from everyday life and the products you use. A gentle clarifying shampoo helps refresh your scalp while keeping your wash routine simple.

What About Relaxed or Color-Treated Hair?

Apple Cider Vinegar isn’t just for natural hair.

When used in a well-balanced shampoo, it can also benefit relaxed and color-treated hair by helping remove buildup without relying on overly harsh cleansers.

Because chemically treated hair can be more delicate, we always recommend following up with a moisturizing conditioner after clarifying.

Why We Made Our Clarifying Shampoo

When we created our Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Clarifying Shampoo, we weren’t trying to make another DIY recipe in a bottle.

We wanted to create a shampoo that makes it easy to enjoy the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar without the guesswork.

Our formula is designed to clarify your scalp, remove buildup, and leave your hair feeling fresh while Aloe Vera helps replenish moisture. The result is a shampoo that’s gentle enough to become part of your regular wash day routine for curls, coils, locs, relaxed hair, and color-treated hair.

When we created Shateria Beauty, our goal was simple: make plant-based hair care that works for every texture in your household. We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between ingredients you feel good about and products that actually work.

Thank you for taking the time to learn with us. We hope this helped you better understand why we chose Apple Cider Vinegar and how it can support a healthy scalp.

From our family to yours, thank you for trusting Shateria Beauty with your hair care journey.
